It’s beginning to hit me that the great beyond is now almost upon me.  My last day at the Milwaukee Symphony for this season (and at least for a full year since I’ll be leave) is on Sunday.  With that comes the end of the “gravy” train – the steady two-week pay check.  Tonight I found myself feeling increasingly depressed and anxious about this fact during the Pops concert we played.  But miraculously when the concert ended and I “escaped” into the steamy night air, my mood lifted immediately.

Worrying about something when you can’t do anything about it (i.e. when you are in the middle of playing Battle Hymn to the Republic) is a recipe for stress, if not for missed notes.  Focusing on what you want to do and taking little steps towards your goals is the remedy.

Some of the little steps I’ll be taking in the coming week involve buckling down to learn an illustrator program, as well as going back to studying CAD (computer aided design).  I’m also going to be posting a bunch of my latest pieces – beautiful professional photos along with photos of the jewelry on my lovely model, Ann.

Here is a modest earring for tonight (another little step…):
