A Design a Day – Day 19

Last Christmas I decided to gift my aunt, who loves rhinos, with a jewelry design inspired by none else but the rhino!  I started out with a colored pencil sketch of  the beast, and from there played around with design elements inspired by the animal.  In particular, I found the shape of the horn to be very interesting:

A ring design evolved for me from there.   Because my aunt has ties to Africa, Zimbabwe in particular, through her daughter who owns a coffee farm there with her husband, I wanted the ring to contain colors of the flag of Zimbabwe.
