Even though we’ve only been in NY City on an on-again, off-again basis this fall (currently off-again as we struggle to get our new apartment issues resolved!), I’ve made some delightful new friends. One of these, Tom Cathey, is a talented licensed artist with a wonderful sense of humor and photographic eye. The colorful and amusing photos on his blog, Tom’s Eye View, document the flavor and adventure of New York City. You don’t have to be a New Yorker to appreciate the humor or the pictorial story-telling in Tom’s posts.
And, speaking of humor, I was fortunate to stumble upon this fabulous troupe of acrobats/break-dancers/comedians in Central Park this past Sunday. They call themselves the Afrobats. One look at these two YouTube videos (captured remarkably well by a tourist a year ago), and you’ll quickly realize why the Afrobats drew a crowd in the hundreds…and probably earned hundreds, judging by the people putting 5’s, 10’s and 20’s into their donation bags!
