This week I’ve been a bit delinquent with my blog posts, but I’ve had a good excuse.  I’m on tour with the New York City Ballet for a series of 7 concerts at Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C.  (For a recent review, please click here.)  Add in an additional 3 rehearsals and a monster repertoire, and you have an idea of the amount of free time I’ve had!

However, after we finished our morning rehearsal today, I finally got a chance to walk around a little.  As you can see, spring has arrived in D.C.

My walk took me to the Lincoln Memorial…

Where Lincoln sits in the cool shade surrounded by a lot of marble, and even more tourists…

(These three little boys seemed awed by Mr. Lincoln.)

From there I walked up the mall towards the Washington Monument…

Passing by this blue heron….

And pots of red tulips.

The White House looked pristine…

And I saw President Obama …

I stopped at a street vendor to get a treat…

Then meandered past this park on my way back to the hotel.

I do love spring!

I love spring, too. sigh. Sure wish it would get here. (However, the sun came out for about 15 min today and I rushed out and bought 2 flats of pansies. Now I’ll probably watch them be covered by snow)

      Hi ma,

We’ve actually had different weather here every day….sunny and 80, rainy and cold, overcast and cool, windy with hail, etc.

I think I prefer NY weather:-)

      Hi Helen,

Thanks for the information! I wasn’t sure if I had the name of the bird right, so I’m glad you set me straight (and I’ll change it on my post as soon as I finish this reply!)

Hope things get straightened out at Uhlein Hall so that the orchestra can resume its normal schedule. Maybe the malfunction will cause an improvement in the acoustics?

      🙂 Joana
