My Favorite Things – The Lights, Glitter, Baubles, and Street Food of a New York Christmas

New York is bustling with a frenetic holiday energy.  When I haven’t been running around our apartment baking cookies, or wandering around the building handing out holiday bonuses to the employees, I’ve taken every opportunity to get out and enjoy that energy.

I’ve seen…

Santa making an early appearance…

While one of his elves moonlighted at Europan Bakery and Cafe.

I’ve seen lovely wreaths…

And window displays snowing silver balls!

At Van Cleef and Arpels, I ogled the baubles in this window…

Then couldn’t decide if I liked these better.

Fortunately, my husband bought and wrapped up the entire Cartier store for me!

(So I bought him the entire Tommy Hilfiger store in exchange.)

To be honest, a $3 pretzel is more suited to our budget.

You can round out your meal with an Italian sausage sandwich…

And finish it off with hot sugared nuts.

Ya gotta love New York!

  1. Wonderful essay, as usual Joana! I enjoy reading them every time.

    • Thanks, Pam!

I hope you are having a wonderful holiday! I’m back to playing Nuts today, and do 2 today and 2 tomorrow. I sort of wonder why anyone would want to see the Nutcracker AFTER Christmas, but I guess it does prolong the holiday spirit.

      🙂 Joana
