My Favorite Things – Dog Walker Spotting

Being mainly a cat person who transplanted to NY most recently from the Midwest, I’m still getting used to the spectacle of dog walkers.  Earning upwards of $15 per dog (per 1/2 hour), these dog walkers know a thing or two about keeping leashes untangled, dogs in a pack, and pooper-scoopering!

Recently on the Upper East Side, I spotted:

An energetic young man rounding the corner with 6 dogs…

Followed by this pack of toy dog breeds.

This serene dog walker was clearly the leader of his pack…

Which became evident when a tourist, thinking it looked fun, asked if she could step in and take the “reins.”

I guess it’s not as easy as it looks!

    • Hi Nina,

Hmmmm, that’s a good question. I don’t think Josephine would walk a big dog…but maybe a little toy dog breed. When I was in college, my roommate used to say that she just wanted to step on those little dogs. I actually think they are kind of cute.

Hope you are having a good week! Joana

    • I looked up borzois and showed Josephine. She said she prefers the toy poodle…(but still wants to look for other toy breeds before she commits.)

      🙂 Joana

        • They do look elegant, Nina…only they qualify in my scaredy-cat brain as “BIG” dogs. 😉 My sister has a very pretty and gentle collie which doesn’t scare me or seem like a big dog. Even so, if I was going to get a dog, it would definitely be a small one that never barked. (Josephine amazingly feels like I do on this;-)
