In the News – Whimsical Marker and Colored Pencil Illustration by Joana Miranda

Believe it or not, Andre helps Josephine with the crosswords.   And Josephine’s guilty pleasure is the celebrity and fashion pages.  How else is a fashionista going to stay in the know?

    • Hi Helen,

Thanks for the email and for your feedback! I’m really enjoying the markers and look forward to gradually increasing my collection of colors. [?]

Now I’m headed off to play a ballet show in the 90 degree humidity at SPAC in Saratoga Springs. Ick. At least with the sun going down we should see a little bit of relief. Are you enjoying summer in Milwaukee?

      Ciao – Joana

      • Hi Joana—-summer has been a little difficult, what with an elderly cat who just died this morning! He was one of Jason’s cats, and I’d only had him for under 2 months. I think he died of kitty dementia—–stopped using litter, stopped eating, eventually stopped drinking water, and of course got so weak that he couldn’t walk. We realized that he was blind and deaf yesterday, and couldn’t believe he was still breathing. Thankfully, he died early this morning, and Jason was available to help bury him in the back yard.

Otherwise, my summer is a little quiet! I have been going to some fun art and theater things with my unemployed art teacher neighbor (thanks, Scott Walker). I’m making new stuff, but as always, I’m very slow. We’re doing some recording, but schedules are a little difficult. I would love to finish our next CD this summer….don’t know if it’s gonna happen.

        • Hi Helen,

So sorry to hear about the elderly cat! My sister’s cat just went to cat heaven, too (I believe it was due to kidney disease.) I don’t have any pets – except of course for “Andre,” but he doesn’t count since he’s a virtual pet.

Just came back from playing the matinee which included Jeux de Cartes and Brahms-Schoenberg Piano Quartet. Mercifully, the temps were in the low 80s, so it was perfectly pleasant playing in the pit. Tonight (Romeo and Juliet) should also be fine temperature wise.

Keep plugging away at making your creations. Yah never know when the next sale is going to come. I’m looking forward to getting my shop out of vacation mode when I return next week.

          Ciao – Joana
