The Flapper – Marker and Ink Illustration by Joana Miranda

As I work on my illustrations, I’m always looking for ways to help my character – Josephine – evolve. ¬†Tonight my focus was on creating a mood with the background I placed her in, without necessarily rendering any actual scenery. ¬†Ironically, Josephine’s 1920’s garb also gave me the opportunity to get back to a little jewelry rendering, too.

(By the way, if I could go back to any era, this would be it!)

Josephine looks like the type of girl I’d take on an expensive date and profess my love for her in a publicly grand display of appreciative affection.
Oh yes, your art is that good.
