The Flapper – Marker and Ink Illustration by Joana Miranda

As I work on my illustrations, I’m always looking for ways to help my character – Josephine – evolve.  Tonight my focus was on creating a mood with the background I placed her in, without necessarily rendering any actual scenery.  Ironically, Josephine’s 1920’s garb also gave me the opportunity to get back to a little jewelry rendering, too.

(By the way, if I could go back to any era, this would be it!)

  1. Josephine looks like the type of girl I’d take on an expensive date and profess my love for her in a publicly grand display of appreciative affection.
Oh yes, your art is that good.
