My Favorite Things – A Bird’s Eye View From Manhattan’s Upper East Side

Every week I make a trek over to the East Side to teach one of my talented young violin students.  Last week, a friend of mine invited me over to tea at her friend’s apartment on the East Side.  As luck would have it, the apartment building sits almost directly across the street from where I teach my student.

From the glass-railed balcony of our hostess’ 37th-floor apartment (trembling knees, anyone?) I could look straight down to the street below…

While not so far in the distance, the red Roosevelt Island tramway cars were bringing passengers into Manhattan.

From the view to the northeast, our hostess told me she watches the planes taking off at LaGuardia airport…

The hazy day made for muted panoramas.  Glad to have not blown off the balcony, we closed the heavy sliding glass door and nestled in for tea and cookies.
