My Favorite Things – In the Eyes of an Eight Year Old

Over the years, I’ve taught violin (and viola) to a lot of kids.  My current studio is small, but somehow this crop of  students seems to be the most interesting and lovely to date.  Maybe it’s just luck; or, maybe it’s also a shift in my approach…but more on that tomorrow.

In the meantime, I wanted to share a pictorial tribute I received this week from my student, Anna.  She didn’t just make me a card…I got an entire BOOK!

And, as you can see from the cover…

Anna's birthday book for me

It’s her tribute to ME!

The multi-page tome…

Documents my talents in…

Piano and Art pages of Anna's birthday book

And…

Beauty and Art pages of Anna's birthday book

This is one very special and bright little kid.  I’ll admit that she’s not always easy to teach (note the wails on the “Kids” page), but the silver lining is that I’ve grown as a teacher AND a person from working with her.

What could be better than that?
