A Rainy Day Illustration (Work in Progress)

I worked on a new illustration today and was pleased with some elements, though not so pleased with others.   Since I don’t usually include men in my illustrations, I found myself struggling a bit with the expression on this one.  For the redo – yes, I’m planning to redo the illustration tomorrow – I’ve already enlisted my husband’s help with posing.  The color scheme also needs a bit of tweaking, but I’m not going to give away what I plan to do.

March Calendar prelim watermarked

Hope you’ll stop back again soon to see my progress!

  1. Gosh, I think he looks good….looking forward to seeing the improvements!

    • Thanks, Helen!

Andy posed for me this morning, so I’m planning on trying to work his model-esque features into the illustration;-) I’d also like “her” to look more animated…will attempt the revision tomorrow.

How are you doing? It’s been cold and rainy here for two days and I’m eager for a break from the wetness. Is it cold in Milwaukee?

      Ciao, dearie! Joana

      • We are almost done with Flying Dutchman, thank heavens, then a blessed week off. Weather is warm-ish here….you should have some nicer weather ahead, maybe! Next week, I’m volunteering for one of the organizations working to increase voter turnout…..hoping to have someone new in the governor’s mansion next year!

        • Hi Helen,

I saw all the posts on FB from MSO players…figured it was Wagner. He’s not my favorite composer by any stretch. Who is conducting?

My parents and sister all helped in the past with getting out the vote. My volunteering has been more humanitarian based (homeless, literacy, helping the elderly, etc.) And that reminds me that I should take advantage of my relatively lighter schedule to sign up for more volunteer opportunities!

I was recently appointed to the NYCB viola section for the upcoming Nutcracker and Winter Seasons (Andy had nothing to do with the appointment, by the way), so I know that things will be pretty insane in my work schedule from Thanksgiving on. I have 4 more calendar illustrations to finish this week, and a gig in NJ. Better get to work….
