Walk Like An Egyptian…A New Illustration Goes Slightly Awry

I was pretty pleased with my latest illustration when I left it this afternoon.  However, spending a few hours away gave me “new eyes”, and I realized that the way I’d positioned my model’s feet was slightly reminiscent of an Egyptian hieroglyph!  So I plan to give the illustration another shot tomorrow.

Who knows, maybe she doesn’t even need the legs?

  1. Very sexy. Who needs legs?

    • 😉 My feeling exactly, especially when I haven’t illustrated them quite correctly. In addition to aiming for more dynamic motion in my illustrations, I keep hoping to hit the right note of humor and character (less realism – more stylized figures). I’m not totally where I want to be yet, but I feel like I’m on the right path!

How are you doing? The NYCB Winter season just finished and I’m pretty exhausted since I played everything. This week I’m observing Wicked in the pit and will play my first two shows next week. A new adventure!

    • Thank you, Rita! The reworked version is still in progress, but hopefully I’ll be able to post something soon.

Hope you are having a great week! Joana

  3. I think it’s great! Classic!

    • Hi Pam, Sorry it’s taken me so long to respond! I’m in New Orleans this week with my mom for a much needed vacation 🙂 Did you see the “redo” of this illustration? I posted it this past Saturday and am much happier with the new version. I hope you are happy and well! Xox – Joana On Mar 23, 2015 11:37 AM, “JOANA MIRANDA STUDIO” wrote:
