My Favorite Things – Colorful Montmartre

On my last day in Paris, I wandered around the streets and alleyways of the Montmartre neighborhood. Β The hills and steep cobblestone stairways were broken up by colorful cafes and boutiques. Β  And in the Place du Tertre artists were busy at work sketching the passersby.

Here’s what I saw…

Moulin Rouge

Le Conculat Restaurant in Montmartre

Colorful cafes in Montmartre

Painters on the square in Montmartre

Artist at work in Montmartre

Artist studying subject

Boy being sketched in Montmartre

Boy in maroon hat sketching in Montmartre

    So wonderfully French!

  2. Hi Joana… As always you have brought me back to Paris… I did enjoy watching the artists at work! One of my favorite things to do were hunting for great postcards… I brought back some great ones!… It was like one big
Fair going on, I had a blast! Until next time, Denise πŸ˜‰

    • Hi Denise,

The only things (aside from the food) I bought on my trip were two postcards. πŸ™‚ I love the vintage black and white postcards of scenes from old Paris and I saw lots of vendors selling those. They’re charming and so fun!

I’m glad you found lovely postcards during your stay, too! Have you saved them or sent them off to friends? Letter writing seems to be a lost art these days…

Hi Joana… The name of the French artist is Robert Doisneau! Oops originally made a mistake with the spelling! Regards, Denise

    • Hi Denise,

I’m a big fan of Doisneau’s photographs…he captured such beautiful images full of life and humor! And his work is even more impressive today since all of his images were captured with film and didn’t rely on the benefits of a digital preview screen or Photoshop.
