I’ve been resisting the Inktober mania over at Instagram because (well: because.)  But today it occurred to me that after taking a planned day off from illustrating yesterday, working from a word prompt might be a good way to jump-start the creative juices again.  So I looked up the Inktober word of the day for October 15th (day 15 of the month-long challenge) and learned that it was LIGHT.

Here’s a look at what emerged from my brush pen…

And here’s the finished doodle:

Quick brush pen and ink cartoon illustration of funny character making shadow figures with a flashlight.

P.S.  As I posted the link for Inktober above, I revisited the prompt word list and discovered that the word I found listed on Instagram for today’s prompt (Light) was incorrect.  The prompt for today was actually supposed to be WEAK.  Sigh.  The only way my illustration fits THAT prompt is if you consider that my eyesight is getting weak – hence my misreading of the prompt on Instagram.  A likely story (weak eyes rolling), but I’m sticking to it!

Hi Helen, Actually, I’ve been doing my own “Inktober” of sorts since June (posting an ink illustration on my account at Instagram every day – or usually 6 days a week.) Of course, like everything else I seem to do, MY versions don’t go viral. Sigh. Such is life. Hope you are doing well. I still wanna chat again…just have to figure out a good time to try calling you. xox – Joana
