It’s a wrap on another month’s illustration for the soon-to-debut Joana Miranda 2015 Calendar. And here’s a little “taste…”
I’ve been working on illustrations for the Joana Miranda Studio 2015 Calendar and have just put the finishing touches on other month. Here’s a sneak peak…

Not sure if we’re having an “Indian Summer” this year or not. But, judging from the fact that the strappy tan lines on my feet haven’t yet faded, I’m still optimistic…and am celebrating the spirit of late summer in my latest illustration!
(You can purchase the greeting card version of this illustration here.)
My latest illustration has been an exercise in, well…
keeping it fresh!
Although I did quite a few versions of this illustration trying out different settings for Josephine and her little dog André (see below for an example)…
In the end, I decided Jo and André were just fine on their own, thank you very much.
By the way, if you’re environmently conscious like me, then this new tote is a must for your grocery runs!

About a year ago I switched from working with watercolors and gouache to using markers and ink for my fashionista illustrations. I made the switch for several reasons; I wanted more vibrancy to my colors, and I wanted to work with a more translucent paper without having to worry about the paper buckling under the wetness of the paint.
My first attempts with markers were fairly clumsy and heavy-handed, but I feel now like I’m really growing into the medium. Today I brought back an old illustration to rework. I always liked the drawing, but knew when I originally finished it that it would need to be reworked at a later date.
Here’s the old version:
And here is the new re-worked version:
The greeting card version is now available in my shop at Etsy!

This past week I was caught up in a whirlwind of work – this time music related. Six performances (4 different programs), 2 rehearsals, and 3 students later, I’m ready to see the work week end! But before I curl up on the couch with my husband, a movie, and some chewy candy, I’m posting the newly outlined (and fleshed out) version of the sketch I posted on Monday. The next step will be the coloring…a step I’ve really come to look forward to ever since I got my new Copic Sketch markers.
I’m still mulling over the greeting. But perhaps that will work itself out after I’ve had a little more sleep! Stay tuned…
