I’m embarrassed to admit that I let two weeks go by without working on a single illustration. Not good. While I sort of have an excuse for the first week (playing 6 shows and 3 rehearsals in 5 days doesn’t leave much time for anything else), my only excuse for last week was that I was too busy eating gourmet meals, swimming and loon-watching at my mom’s lakeside cabin in NH. Not surprisingly, today when I sat down at my drafting table, rusty is an understatement for how I felt. As a result, I don’t have much I’m proud to post, but here at least is a sampling of what I attempted… (Trust me when I say that you don’t need to see the rest of this composition!)
“Everything in moderation…including moderation.”
I enjoyed my recent visit to Maison Kayser, newly opened at Columbus Circle. In addition to the lovely cafe menu, the pastry case is worth a look (and a 2nd and 3rd look, too!)
Adversity strikes (this time in the form of a fried motherboard), so I’m coping…mainly, finding a sunny cafe for a drink and a pastry!
I love this “recipe for life” quote by H.M.S. Josephine, my imaginary fashionista creation, has adopted it as her motto, too!
Josephine is part ingenue, part old soul. Nothing makes her happier than savoring the good and tasty things in life. In this pencil and watercolor illustration, she is shown digging into a piece of chocolate raspberry truffle cake.
