Friday’s Thought – Show the Love

…and please consider voting for me/my business in Etsy’s #DifferenceMakesUs Contest! Voting closes at midnight EST April 6th.

Why?

  1. Because I’ve been cooped up inside since Sunday rehearsing and performing and your vote will cheer me up.
  2. A cartoonist needs an audience and your votes (and comments and shares) are just the encouragement I need to keep brainstorming and producing more work.
  3. I need a lot more votes to even have a chance at being competitive.

P.S.  If you voted, then a million thanks from the bottom of my heart.  You’ve been officially placed on my gratitude list and you don’t need to do anything else (but you could share this post with your friends…)

My Favorite Things – A Chance to Win $10,000!

(Actually, even better is getting lots of encouragement and votes from my family, friends and fans.)

Yes, I’ve decided to enter the Etsy #DifferenceMakesUs Contest.  Winning is entirely based on popularity (number of votes across different Social Media platforms), so if you like me and my work, I hope you’ll consider voting!  You can submit your vote here up until midnight on April 6th, EST.

Happy Voting!

From My Sketchbook – Picking Up the Pieces

For those of you fans who also happen to be my musician friends, I know you understand the stress of preparing for an audition.  And I know you’ll sympathize and be able to relate as I sit here scratching my head tonight after not having advanced in the audition I took today.  It’s one thing to not advance after feeling like you didn’t play well…entirely another when you know you pretty much did your best (hence the head scratching!)  Fortunately, I do have a very good network of supportive friends and family, and my imaginary friends (see below) are calling as well.

And, as I begin to pick up the pieces and get back to my creative endeavors, I’m inspired to share this piece of wisdom…

“There is no innovation and creativity without failure. Period.”

From My Sketchbook – A Wintry Quartet

It got quite cold in the Big Apple this past week and we even saw a few flurries!  My fellow commuters were bundled up in coats, hats and scarves…with some styles more outlandish than others.

Here’s a quartet of cartoon sketches from the subway…

From My Sketchbook – Over the Holiday Weekend

New York is a pretty amazing place to be at this time of year.  The holiday lights are going up, Christmas trees are appearing in apartment building lobbies and stores, and the mood on the sidewalks seems energetic and festive.

On the subway, I espied content faces…

As well as some anxious tourists listening for the announcement of their stop.

And, of course, after a weekend of eating, there were others who took advantage of the commute for some much-needed shut-eye.
